The conference was held on the 13 - 16 September, 2011 in Kalajoki Finland. With regards to the current discussion of the energy U-turn (“Energiewendeprozess”) in Germany and also with regards to the European Agenda 2020 goals, the PEA Project sees its duty to bring the issues of the production and the use of renewable energy, the strengthening of energy efficiency and raising awareness for the topic to a broader and international public.

Next to work group and steering committee meetings, an international press conference was held consisting of two parts:

Additional international speakers from the branches of research, economy and politics underlined the importance of transnational cooperation on regional level and highlighted strategic actions taken so far.

From Theory to Practice in the Ylivieska Subregion: The second part of the conference was dedicated to the implementation of the PEA project itself.
